The employee in this position performs professional level work in technical writing for all types of MCHCP publications and media.

Identifies, researches, writes, edits and produces content for MCHCP publications and media including, but not limited to: website, emails, newsletters, manuals, brochures, presentations and other communication tools.
Coordinates and schedules the review and edit of annual publications and special projects to ensure accuracy and consistency, setting priorities and meeting deadlines.
Ensures communications and messages are appropriate for target audience and adhere to MCHCP and Associated Press style guidelines.
Participates in meetings with communications staff and other MCHCP staff to plan communication projects by contributing ideas and feedback.
Posts and updates website content.
Edits and designs publications using graphic design software.
Gathers member and employee feedback on communication efforts; conducts surveys as needed.
Analyzes and evaluates the communications program and recommends changes.
As needed, responds accurately and promptly to telephone, written inquiries or social media posts, blogs, etc.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of state legislative process, insurance industry and benefits administration practices, terminology and functions preferred.
Knowledge of social media such as blogs, wikis, podcasts, webcasts, videos, online communities and e-learning tools highly desired.
Advanced knowledge of print and Web writing principles and differences to maximize readability.
Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite products and Microsoft Office products and ability to learn new software, as needed.
Working knowledge of MCHCP statutes, regulations, benefits and procedures.
Advanced grammar and editing skills.
Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
Must be detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills.
Ability to translate complex, technical information and present it to members in an easily understandable and member-friendly manner.
Ability to set and adhere to project timelines.
Ability to prioritize, organize and perform work independently and under pressure to provide quality results in limited time frames.
Ability to serve as a productive team member while establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships with MCHCP management, MCHCP staff, MCHCP members, health plan representatives and general public.
Ability to make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures; and ability to prioritize, organize and perform work independently and under pressure.
Ability to project a professional image through oral and written communication and appearance.
Ability to take oral and written directions and use independent judgment in accomplishing required tasks.
Must be able to handle multiple projects at the same time, take direction from other managers and respond appropriately to that direction.
Physical ability and stamina to sit for extended periods of time while riding in a car or driving to presentation locations; to regularly lift/transport boxes of plan materials/equipment used in group presentations; ability to bend and lift items (weighing up to 50 lbs) without assistance, to place in and remove from car trunk; and must have valid driver’s license and be able to drive vehicle alone in-state, in all types of weather conditions.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major in English, communications, journalism, public relations or closely related field.
